In 14 days the venues will come to life hours before competition, with each operational team arriving to their posts in preparation for the days historical events. Every member of this ensemble has an integral role to play, from catering cleaning & waste, transport, event services, technology, hospitality, to the broadcasters, each dependant on the other to ensure the stage is set for the athletes to do their best.
As we walk the venues during these final days and hours of preparation, making checks and adjustments, I am reminded how unique our positions are. There are not many jobs where you can walk on a Field of Play knowing that history will be made “here”! It is also an important reminder of how essential each of our small contributions are to making this event happen. And if we do our job right, no one will even know we were there!
