24 days to go! A city transforming!

Watching a city transform every four years is quite a unique experience and the way Rio has metamorphosed over the past years is remarkable.

The challenge for any city, outside of delivering the largest sporting event on the planet, is to realise all of the capital works projects that are typically undertaken simultaneously.  Every hosting city I have lived in  has delivered extensive new infrastructure, however through the haze of the construction mess it is often very hard to appreciate, especially when you live in the middle of it all! However from my experience the positive benefits are always lasting.

Today was that special day when we collected our games time accreditation, and it was also the first time we witnessed the new light rail in operation, experienced the new road systems circling the city centre and could see clearly all the way to the new “Museo do Amanha”. The museum opened a while ago, however now with all the construction completing around the Olympic Boulevard a Praca Maua you can now enjoy its full beauty.

Piece by piece the city will open up ready to receive the world, it is going to be amazing!

Happy 24 days to go!
