Finally we got to see the FOP (field of play) in action! Today when making our regular venue visits in the Deodoro cluster, which is host to; Basketball, Rugby, Modern Pentathlon, Hockey, Equestrian, Shooting, BMX, Mountain Bike and Canoe Slalom, we all had reason to smile!
After years of planning, meetings, site visits, a couple of test events and what seems like in the last months a series of “groundhog days”, we were at last witness to a venue in sport operation. Of course there are the finishing touches to be done, but as we watched the sunset over the Rio hills on this ninth day before games, we all had a glimpse of what is to come as athletes trained on the canoe slalom course. Wonderful to see and well done to the venue teams!
