Over 9 years ago the bid was submitted for Rio to host the 2016 games. It wasnt until about 7 years ago Rio de Janeiro was selected to stage the greatest event on Earth! (Well it is in my opinion). And over the past 3 years I have had the privilege of calling this “Cidade Olimpica” my home.
Please enjoy the next 16 days of competition, because like Pierre’s quote, for me and I am sure for many of my friends and colleagues, this delivery has certainly been about the good fight, and I honestly believe we have all fought extremely well and hard to prepare these games for all to enjoy.
